On the Street.....The Impact of Mens Accessories, NYC

The women's accessories business is huge because of the impact the right bag or sunglasses can have on a total look.

We don't often hear/notice that same impact in menswear.

Well, here is a great example of a few small accessories having a major impact on a look and totally changing the perception of that look.

By simply adding a silver cuff, highly stylized sandals and a dramatic hair style; this gentleman has taken a basically preppy look and turned it on it's head.

Of course the proportions of the polo and the rolled shorts also impact the look but the first thing i noticed were his accessories.

Still pissed off about Comic-Con on Saturday. as;jlfkfsf So wanted to go. Just for Saturday. Dammit.

The house is about 85% unpacked - the other 15% is Mom's stuff that she hasn't unpacked, as well as some kitchen stuff. My room is more or less completely unpacked and set up. Pics to follow.

Summer Shade
I have never worn a straw or Panama hat but the idea is really growing on me.
Personally I don't think I would wear it with a suit but with a linen shirt and shorts it could work very nicely for me.

Since you guys probably know more about it than I, what should I be looking for?

I love this hat I saw at Piombo in Portofino.

10 Corso Como has a great selection of men's hats right now.
I might check out Jay Kos here in NYC

you're better than the models and the idols too
So it looks like here in the apartment complex, they has free wireless here in the lounge. I went to Starbucks this morning since mom gave me a 5$ card to get some breakfast/lunch/etc and to use their internets and it was major fail. So luckily, I have this internets here until ours gets installed Wednesday.

Mom's completely moved out of her apartment here (two floors down from our current new place), and so her internets are gone there. We've made major progress unpacking - if anything, my room is more or less completely unpacked, except for my figures. We need to get the glass case for those ([info]demonography, could you leave that link you gave me for the ikea /fig/ case for me again? I think I lost it D:). The dust is almost gone and my eyes are doing better, though they're still scaly a bit (I really hope this ain't exema and just allergy-induced skin reactions DD:).

As for the apartment itself, it's nice. It's half the size of our old place, but the architecture is used so well that you can't really tell too much. I like my room - for once I got the master bedroom since I need the most space for my crap, and I even have a bathroom attached which is attached to the closet. It's made of major win, I'll tell you whut. There's lots of light and air, which is pretty great.

I'm still majorly fucking irritated I can't put anything up on the walls, though. :<< And I still don't like Orange. IT'S ALL CHAIN STORES SO FAR, PEOPLE. l;asdkjfas;fs I can feel brain cells dying as we speak.

At least there's a Coldstone Creamery and Jamba Juice downstairs, though. :3

New dose of pain meds are doing fabulously, thank you for asking. Even if I did pull stuff while moving (I need a massage anyway, yawn). I was going to go to the bookstore (located across the street), but I'm still feeling pretty wiped from everything. So after I finish my internetting here, I may as well go back upstairs and go back to bed/read/etc. Nrrgh.

Also, I miss all of you. Terribly. ;_;

Finally.....My Favorite Shot From London

Sometimes the business of running a blog can affect the day-to-day of blogging.

On my recent trip to London I was able to find a few good shots (even though it rained for hours everyday). However, something fell-thru on my GQ page so I had to switch those trip images to the magazine.

Since GQ just hit the stands I can finally post this image.

What I love about this shot is its timelessness.

Not that it is so great but that it is actually timeless.

Without the benefit of cars, or the way other people are dressed in the background to put it in a clear period context, I can imagine someone 40 years from now having a hard time deciding if this was shot in 1983 or 2008.

I read a lot of comments here like "I grew up in the 80's and I don't want to go back." Well, I grew up in the 80's also and I think it would be interesting to hear this young man's romantic vision of that decade.

I had a wonderful weekend with my brother
I really hope he can finish the program at Resolution Ranch soon and stay clean after of course. He's doing so much better, but there seems to still be this "being bad is cool" additude that worries me about him relapsing once free.

We saw the Dark Knight today, VERY INTENSE.

Tomorrow I got a doctor's appointment and then heading the boonies for two days to spend time with my grandma.
